Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The perfect companion for those trips out - Nextbase’s dual screen portable DVD system.
It can be an uphill battle getting the kids into the car, let alone trying to keep them entertained while they’re there? We think we may have the answer for you. And if you’re already the proud owner of one of Nextbase’s portable DVD systems what better than to spread the love and buy one for a friend.
The Nextbase dual-screen system couldn't be easier to instal, it really is plug n' play

Fitting couldn’t be easier, this really is plug n’ play

Installing your new dual screen DVD player really couldn’t be simpler. The system has been designed for total portability and fitting the system into the car is as easy as opening and closing the door.
Step 1:
Attach the screen mount to the headrest using the supplied mount and straps
Step 2: Slot the screen into the mount
Step 3: Plug in the supplied car power and screen linking cables. Only one 12V car socket is required as the second screen takes its power from the master DVD player. When the master is powered in the car or by the mains socket you can run both screens.
Step 4: Press play! What’s more, to prevent any unwanted attention when you’re not in the car the screens can been remove just as easily in a matter of seconds.

It’s good to share, especially on those long journeys
Nextbases’s dual screens keep everyone happy while you’re on your travels. You can play the same movie on both displays at once so no one feels left out, and the super sharp 7" TFT screens offer the outstanding picture quality that would keep even the most critical eye happy. Need to hear yourself think? Not a problem, the system gives the option to playback audio from either the in-built speakers or using headphones, so you can enjoy a tranquil journey, while the kids are engrossed in the action.

Take your favourite movies, pics and tunes with you, with USB support
Now you can take your movies, music and picture files straight from your PC or MAC using a USB drive and play them through the system. For example, you could simply plug your USB drive in to the system and hey-presto you can let the kids flick through the hilarious pics from their birthday party or holiday. (Image formats supported: JPEG)

Take your favourite movies, pics and tunes with you, with USB support
Control at your fingertips
No more fiddling around with tiny buttons or worrying that your child may undo their seatbelt reaching for the fast forward button. With the compact, wipe clean remote, passengers have full control of the player without having to move a muscle. They can pause the action, fast-forward, rewind, skip scenes, enter the setup menu, mute the sound and much more. What does this do for you? Well you have the peace of mind knowing that everyone safely belted up in the back.

Smooth playback with bulti-in anti-shock device
The built-in anti-shock system irons out those bumpy journeys so even if you’re jumping around, you’re movie won’t be.

Support for all your favourite formats
The player supports all the movie, music and picture formats you’re ever likely to need: DVD & CD (including re-writeable discs), VCD, SVCD, MP3, DivX and JPEG.

Not only multi-screens, but multi-use

The portable DVD system is very much at home in the car but it can also be conveniently used as a standalone unit. The clever stand means you can easily remove the screen and use on a flat surface, such as a table, as well as in the car. So if you ever need to stop off at a friend’s on-route, the kids can carry on watching regardless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nextbase SDV47AM Twin Screen DVD player 23 Mar 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase
We borrowed a Phillips DVD player (1 screen) from a friend and then subsequently bought this before Christmas for what I understand was about the same price (2 screens). We have used them on journeys from 45 mins to 4 hours and I cannot fault them. They come in their own carry case; are very easy to attach to the headrests with long, adjustable velcro straps; can be operated easily by our 5yr old and also from the front with a remote control; the volume is adequate even on a motorway; and they are very light. Much better than the Phillips system which opened like a laptop and had to hang between the seats. Perfect, would have no hesitation in recommending the Nextbase system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what we hoped for 12 Mar 2010
Just a quick review to add to the other positives.

Arrived quick, worked straight away and made our UK road trip so much more pleasant for everyone in the car.

Key positives:
- both cigarette lighter and AC plug in the pack, can use it in the hotel rooms if necessary
- quick release is simple to install and sturdy. (A tip though, position the velcro straps carefully so the front seat passengers don't inadvertantly get their hair caught - not so much of a problem for me being bald, but I needed to adjust it to stop pulling my wife's hair!)
- The volume from the unit is very loud, meaning that you don't need external transmitters to the car radio etc to be heard over the road noise. Note, as the units sit right behind your head, they are VERY loud for front seat passengers, so suggest headphones for either you (ear defenders) or the kids in the back!
- Nice bag which fits all the bits and pieces for safe storage. The unit itself feels pretty rugged and resiliant, and although not yet tested by our kids, I am fairly confident it will resist most of their attention.
- long power and video cables, meaning you could tuck them away under seat covers, corners etc to minimise the look and danger of dangling cables.

Things to be aware of:
- it is a little slow to start up/read a new dvd when first inserted.... in a car where it's in the back and you can't see what's going on, it is just long enough to tempt you to stop and have a look at it. Don't, it needs just a few seconds more patience.
- Inserting/exchanging DVDs in transit is pretty tough due to the flip open nature of the unit and the requisite flexibility you need to twist around from the front, so unless you're in the back too or one of the kids is old (responsible) enough to do it themselves, then time for your rest breaks.
- the sound is seriously loud for front seat passengers. Invest in headphones for your own peace of mind.

All in all I thoroughly recommend this item and would buy again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nextbase SDV47AM Twin Screen DVD 1 Dec 2008
I had been thinking about buying a twin DVD player for the car for sometime....but a long journey up to Scotland with two small, often arguing, children made up my mind.
The DVD players come in their own carry bag, complete with all the leads and very easy to attach velcro headrest straps...very compact, they even have a remote control with a battery. Super visual clarity. Really smooth design. The sound is not very loud (good thing whilst you are concentrating on driving) but very adequate and I would recomemnd a couple of pairs of foam headphones.
A six hour journey was turned into a dream...no fighting, only quietnes and calm. Not only were the DVDs indispensible in the car, but at night pop a story CD in and they send the kids off to sleep too. Well worth the money, I love them.
