The Nextbase SDV47 is a tablet style portble DVD player, with the disc sloting neatly under the screen itself. This allows the player to be very slim and makes it ideal for use in the home as well as in the car on long journeys (car mounting kit included).
The Screen on the Nextbase SDV47 portable DVD player is a high resolution LCD with 480 x 234 RGB true colour pixels, which ensures that you always get a perfect picture. Unlike many other portable DVD players the Nextbase units are specifically designed to be fully portable, it has a very wide viewing angle and an inbuilt anti-skip mechanism which allows you to keep enjoying a film even if you are travelling down a bumpy country road. The Nextbase SDV47 portable dvd player supports a huge range of discs and formats including DVD, VCD, SVCD, DivX, MP3, CD, JPEG, CD-R/RW, DVD +/- R and DVD +/- RW so there is very little that this portable DVD player can't deal with. The wide range of format support means that it is not only a portable movie player but also a music player with support for audio CDs and MP3s.
On the side of the player there is a video output and input. Video output means you can use the AV cable (supplied as standard) to plug into a TV and use the SDV47 as a standard DVD player. Video input means that you can plug any external video device, such as a camcorder into the player and view the video on the screen.
A great advantage of the SDV47 portable DVD player is that it can be powered by 6 standard AA recharegable batteries (not included). This allows the unit to be totally portable and used anywhere you like. If you are using AA rechargeable batteries (2300 mAh or greater recommended) you can get over 2 hours of playback.
On the right hand side of the player there is a USB port where you can plug in a USB memory stick to view your pictures or watch movies directly from the USB stick. This is a neat feature as you can store a number of movies onto a USB stick directly from your PC, and then watch them whenever you like.
The rear of the Nextbase SDV47 portable DVD player features a picture frame style stand for standing the player on a flat surface such as a table. It also comes with an easy to slide on / slide off headrest mounting bracket (bracket fixed with 2 vertical Velcro straps that wrap around the car headrest) for fitting your portable player in the car on those long road trips, together with a car cigarette lighter power adapter. The Nextbase SDV47 is an ideal present that will bring hours of entertainment and fun.

Bought this for long car journey for 3yr old. Worked great and passed several hours for a restless child!
This product has a bright,clear and sharp screen. I used it without headphones in-car and the audio was good (i did have the volume almost maxed as this seemed to be needed in the car, but the quality was not affected). I did have some concerns before buying regarding the headrest attachment (read an article on DVD players becoming 'missiles' in the event of a crash), but the one provided with this is pretty secure - if you want further confidence there is an optional headrest fixing which can be bought separately. The remote control also comes in handy in the car!
Overall,very pleased with the product and is good value for money - would recommend.
