This is the key difference between this unit and any other non Click & Go system, in fact this is the world's only crash test approved portable DVD player.

Up to now virtually all after market portable DVD players have come with basic headrest mounting systems. In the event of a crash these are generally unsafe as the DVD player can easily come loose and cause injury.

The new Nextbase Click and Go headrest mount is different. It has been designed from day one to be crash test safe with special metal inserts in the players and a neat Click and Go locking system. This has enabled the Click and Go series to PASS European crash test standards to keep your family safer.

The Click and Go system is convenient
Standard DVD players require mounting onto the car headrest with the power cable being plugged into the side. This is often time consuming, difficult and a little untidy especially with small children. With the Click 7 the player simply slides onto the mount, clicks in place and the DVD starts automatically. The special power cable from the cigarette lighter goes directly into both of the Click and Go headrest mounts providing a much neater solution as the cable can be plugged in once, and then left in place.

The Click 7 is a DVD player that is compact, yet full of features
The screen utilizes the new LED back light technology, using Light Emitting Diodes to generate far greater contrast and brightness ratios providing a crystal clear high resolution image. This technology also helps to keep power consumption to a minimum.

The DVD player is fully Multi-region so you can enjoy films purchased in any country. It supports a huge range formats including DVD, DVD±R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW as well as Video: MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (DVD); Audio: CD, MP3; Photo: JPEG. With this wide range of format support it means you can use this portable player not only as your movie player but also as your music player with support for audio CDs and MP3s. Inbuilt anti-skip circuitry in essential for any portable DVD player, and this ensures that the playback is smooth, even over rough terrain.

The 7" screen on the Nextbase Click 7 has an extra wide viewing angle. This feature is perfect for sharing a movie together with a friend, at home or in the car. Had this item a day now so obviously this is just my first impressions. I just wanted to point out though that the player DOES NOT COME WITH A BATTERY. I thought I would mention this as it certainly wasn't obvious to me until I bought it and got it home. Also, first portable DVD player I've ever owned without rechargeable batteries included.

I wouldn't say this is necessarily a problem as providing you have a cigarette lighter (and most cars do) then you can use the player within the car. The power cable is about 1m long and goes from the cigarette lighter into the base itself rather than the DVD player hence the "DVD player wires free" advertising. As you will see in the product pictures at the top of this page, the power cable is discreetly tucked away down the side of the chair. Apparently, you can use the player completely wires free by buying a battery for it although I haven't looked into this yet.

Anyway, this niggle aside I would say first impressions are quite good. As previous reviewers have stated, player appears to have solid build, good picture quality, and substantial volume on speakers. Base units fits nicely on car seat and player slides on and off base unit smoothly. Will update in a few weeks time once we've had it on a few journeys and I've played about with it more.

Finally, if you are taking advantage of free wireless headphones on offer just now (at time of writing this) can I suggest you look at terms & conditions as it is in this page you have to opt in to get them! I didn't get mine :-(

Update: I got free headphones after a bit of grovelling to Amazon. Note, transmitter for headphones is already built into DVD player. Thought I'd mention it as headphones show separate transmitter unit which is not supplied.

I purchased this item for my baby daughter to break the monotony of car journeys for her, I chose the nextbase initially for the safety aspect, after all who wants discs spinning through their car in the event of an accident?! As soon as I took the player out of the box, i was impressed by the build quality, everything is very sturdy, the buttons feel great, even the remote control (which I was expecting to be rather flimsy) is lovely to handle & is really responsive. Next is the ease of use, whether you're using the velco mount or the stanchion system, both are very secure & you literally 'click &go', I've found most items can be played including DVD-R/RW, but you can also use MMC or videos straight from a USB drive, the player very rarely interupts viewing for bumps in the road either, only very bumpy journeys would cause a problem. It is also great for children as it has no visible buttons on the front, they're all tucked away neatly & stylishly on the top of the player.

Overall, I would highly recommend this product, it looks great, the picture quality & viewing angle are fantastic, it is built to last & most importantly is the safest in car DVD on the Market.
