Product Description

Product Description

Did Wayne Fereday ruin your life? Was Silvio Maric directly responsible for your high dentist bills due to the constant gnashing and grinding of your molars? Did Billy Askew’s hair give you nightmares or did the merest mention of Alain Boumsong's name have the same effect as the aftermath of a Vindaloo? Then this is the book you've been waiting for.

Relive all your least favourite Newcastle United moments by taking a journey back through the labyrinth of frustration, disillusionment and failure that is Newcastle United’s worst ever players. Grimace, cringe and wince as you take a trip down the derelict end of memory lane, through a history of Newcastle United’s most inept, incompetent and overpaid exponents of the beautiful game. Players who panicked whenever the ball came within twenty yards of them, players who would struggle to make the bench for St. Joseph’s School under 7’s team and players who surprised you by managing to put their boots on the right feet.

If you've ever watched a Newcastle United player and wondered how they managed to turn professional and you didn't; if you were left speechless as they were allowed to continue spreading their misery well into the second half or dumbfounded at the fact they’d managed to convince someone to pay them a wage to stumble around the field and offer nothing more to the cause than the corner flag, you’ll find them all here.

More About the Author

I write about things that make me laugh. I write things I'd like to read if other people had written them. I write about things I know, things I've actually done or been around and involved in. I was Chairman of the Washington Theatre Group which gave me a chance to 'persuade' the group to perform some of the plays I'd scribbled down when I really should have been doing other things. When they were well recieved by audiences it spurred me on to write more. My first play 'Cinderella and the Pantomime Thief' was published by Lazybee Scripts in 2005.

After writing a few more stage-plays I turned my hand to non-fiction, drawing on my experience as a Complaints Manager for the now sadly defunct MFI (which may or may not have had something to do with the amount of money I gave to customers to pacify their complaints) for my book 'I want to complain : an alternative guide to customer service' which was featured on BBC Radio 4's Susan Calman feature 'The art of Complaining' in December 2011.

I'm grateful to each and every person who buys and reads one of my books. The positive feedback I recieve makes every 3am 'must-get-this-chapter-finished' session and 9th cup of coffee of the day worth while.

I have now written and published two novels (one under my psuedonym 'P.R.Fox') and my musical play based on the paintings of Alexander Millar, 'Working Man' was published in November 2013. I'm currently working on a non-fiction book about one of my passions (Football) and a comedy novel set in a haunted Caravan Park called 'Chance?'.

I'm on twitter if you want to say hello : @Peter__Nuttall

Thanks for stopping by.

This book is written by a true fan; you can feel his despair. Made me laugh out loud, then shake my head and then cry in equal measure. I have grown up loving Newcastle but realise that we will always be blighted by Carry-on/Soap Opera schemes, managers and players. This book summaries my feelings and our sad history. A must read for all Novocastrians.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable 14 Jan 2014

Very well written book, even the players that you may think have been missed get a mention at some point with the reasons for them not being included.
A must for any Newcastle fan who likes their football books.
