I thought there was nobody who could swing like Oscar Peterson, but there's stuff on this CD which you can hear O.P has borrowed for himself! I realy do recommend this to anybody who thinks they've heard all the best trios - this one needs to be reckoned in that company too.

The MAGICAL newborn touch 21 Aug 2004
By abdel aziz - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This album is first class jazz , an amazing album in all it's aspects.
I was first afraid to try Phineas newborn one of Oscar peterson's personal favourite pianists .I thought he might be too much speedy and devilish for my ears but i was totally wrong this guy is very fast very and very devilish on the piano but he never compromises the melody he's always having fun with the tune but never damaging it.
A must for any piano jazz lover. An underrated genius he deserves much more aclaim .There are no bad tracks and even better they're not the usual boaring standards one got fed up with.
Sit back ; and enjoy it this man will blow your mind.

Phineas needs to shine again! 31 Dec 2010
By Gokhan Ersan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This guy is amazing, and practically obscure today. He used to be hot though. The July 1966 issue of the Playboy magazine gave a rave review to this album. What happened to him after that? Why is he not in the musical consciousness is beyond me. Mr Newborn has a score of other fully satisfying albums that beg to be rediscovered by jazz lovers that will make them awash with pure, piano goodness. What a find! Give the gift of Phineas to a friend next Christmas. I will.

One of my favourite CD's 28 July 2001
By Ramon Szmuk - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Phineas Newborn is known for his devilish style of playing, and is considered, without to many argues, as one of the best pianist in the world today. He is remarkably precise in producing the correct feeling of the piece, and yet makes no apologies when having fun with it. this CD is one of my favourites and I recomend it to anyone who enjoys some fast, light, jazzy piano playing on the small keys.
