I'm not the biggest fan of Grant Morrison's work on X-men, at times he appears to be embarrassed to be writing a super-hero book (e.g. dumping the old costumes). However all is forgiven with Riot at Xavier's, this is Morrison's best work on the title to my mind.
Despite the picture a Jean on the cover she barely appears in this book(but when she does its important), instead the book focases mainly on the students at Xavier's and does a good job of fleshing out these characters and bringing them to life. Reminding us that Xavier's is a school has been Morrison's major achivement on his stint on X-men.
This is an enjoyable book to read, which added to Frank Quitely's brilliant artwork gets it a five.

Part of the Grant Morrison run of X-Men. After the death of an influential mutant fashion designer one of the students leads an angry mob in terrorist revenge. Another set of students on a camping trip are attacked by a new mutant enemy. Then Xavier's School's open day turns into a well orchestrated public riot. In a nut shell, Riot at Xavier's has fantastic one liners and is the best X-Men story-line ever. You must buy, borrow or steal!

This is indeed a very good story, thought provoking and it tries a different angle to most x-men stories. There is little real action it's focus is on rebelious students at the institute. Frank quietly's art is as excellent as usual, its a shame I really don't like his style as he is clearly a talented artist. The problem I have with this book is that it feels like a DC comic, almost as if Grany Morrison has tried to fit the x-men into the DC setting. It just doesn't feel right.
