Product Description

There is no sanctuary.

That was taken away in the blink of an eye. Humanity went out not with a whimper, but a bang.

Jack, a sometimes humorous, sometimes philosophical ex-special operations pilot and soldier is one of the few left to struggle through the desolation left in the aftermath; seeking to survive as a new ferocious species emerges from the rubble, hungry and unrelenting. Will his special forces training be enough? Will he be able to keep his children safe and guide the few survivors through perils that now roam the world they once knew? Or will the hordes that now own the night prevail, forever removing the last of mankind from existence? Humankind was once at the top of the food chain. But that has now changed.

This hard-hitting, action-packed series begins with Jack Walker being suddenly thrust into a world where the infrastructure which cherished Armani suits, night clubs, fast and expensive cars and watching the daily stock market are gone. Left in its place is the material world mankind built but a majority of the population has vanished; replaced by a new, savage, unrelenting, cunning, animalistic species which hunts and operates at night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book one of an excellent ongoing series. 29 July 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
An excellent twist on the current Zombie book revival. The main character, Jack Walker, ex US Airforce, faces a new enemy after a word wide vaccination for a flu epidemic changes peoples DNA turning them into a night hunting, almost Werwolf type of creature, only able to venture out of their lairs during the hours of darkness. Jack and eventually his companions hunt for supplies during the safe daylight hours and barricade themselves in safe buildings during the night.
I won't leak any more spoilers, but just to say the story takes the reader on Jacks travels to rescue his fiancee, and eventually build a well armed group of soldiers who try to make the most of the new situation facing the world.
Well worth the read, its got me hooked and now awaiting book 6 of the ongoing series.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love Kindle zombie novels!!!, 13 Sep 2012
Format:Paperback
For years I've been looking for great Zombie books to read, World War Z (...it's gonna be a film!!!) was the game changer, then the MorningStar Strain.

Now!! we've got Kindle and a whole seam of Z books are being published. Now lets be honest, some are just plain bad. But some are great. This book is one of them. It starts out slow but builds to a gut wrenching crescendo. You can see from all these books where the author gets their inspiration for the zombies from. In this case it's "I am Legend", technically not really zoms more like rabid. The author switches from first person to third during the story, this could annoy some language purists but not me, hey what do you expect Shakespeare!

Basically this novel is about an ex Special Forces pilot, who, during a zombie/rabies outbreak, gathers his teenage kids together, heads of to a deserted military airport, comandeers a transport plane and heads of to Kuwait to rescue his girlfriend. Sounds implausable!, but the author manages to make it believable enough (to me anyway), so much so that I will read the rest of the books.

This book is the beginning of a series of books that once you start you have to carry on to the next. I love Mark Tufo books and I have to say this book gripped from the start right to the end. You will not be disappointed with this book, you will be hooked.

Picked this up on the kindle as a suggested read after reading the "Wool" series (brilliant books). Not quite in the same league but addictive none the less and I am now on the 3rd book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great find ! 28 Sep 2013
Format:Paperback
I had my Kobo and had just finished reading quite a good series of zombie books and was browsing for some more to read, when lo and behold I came across ANW:Chaos !
So the preview was downloaded and I began to read thru, by the end of the preview I was hooked and had to buy the book straight away.
Most of the night was spent laying and reading the book, I just couldn't put it down. That feeling of not wanting to put it down amazed me because it has been quite a while since any book made me want to read straight thru to the last page.
I love the way the book introduces us to the main characters, the great relationship between the kids and their dad and the quiet way the kids "grow" into their new roles in a new world.
I enjoyed the way the creatures that were created were not zombies but a different kind of being that was a mix of cannibal and animal.
Already bought the next 2 books lol

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it 31 Aug 2013
By j
Format:Kindle Edition
For me this is a must read series. The person who gave it 1 star is being massivley unfair there are many books in this genre whitch are generic, obvious and lack originality. Having read all the books in the series and I have been left hanging waiting for John to write the next one. The story for me is original and intriguing, the author being from a military background shines through and adds authentic realism to the main charachter and the combat situations. I read the first 2 books in this series and devoured the rest. i would highly recommend it to anyone who loves zombie/post apocolyptic style story with a twist.
