I love John Pizzarelli's work, and this is one of my favorite of his albums. For one thing, there are a lot of wonderful songs on here that haven't been done to death by every other jazz artist living and dead. With the exception of the Rosemary Clooney hit, "Come On-A My House," these were all new to me. And Pizzarelli performs them beautifully. He can convey playfulness or longing or soaring hope in a song. As much as I liked his Nat King Cole and Beatles covers, I hope that he will chart a new direction with more material like this.
