I originally bought this in 1977 as a record. To be honest I had never heard Tom Paxton sing. I knew he was a heck of a writer. And the magazine Stereo Review did a review of this record. So I bought it. It is recorded live which I think brings out a little something in it. He seemed to have good stage presence and interaction with the audience. The album has a little bit of everything. Love songs, comedy. As a matter of fact two of my three favorite songs are Bring Back The Chair. (The electric chair) and You Can Eat Dog Food. Then he ends the cd with Born On The 4th Of July. Which is the same subject as the movie. It is a better song then the movie. And a very moving Viet Nam war song. That song is worth getting the cd for.
