About the Author
Rebecca Mitchell, herself a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, is co-founder of a support organization for people who have experienced abuse called 'Into the Light'. She is married, a mother and holds several qualifications in counselling and group facilitation. She has also written widely on issues surrounding sexual abuse as well as relationships and dating.

I've just finished reading `New Shoes' and it is brilliant - definitely the most coherent and accessible book I've read on the subject (and I've read quite a few!) and the most suitable to recommend to people tentatively beginning to address their abuse history. The information given is concise but comprehensive, and the style and approach are very gentle.
I particularly like the concept of 'practising' on dealing with more minor issues - eg in expressing anger or considering forgiveness - before applying the same procedures to the major issues of abuse.
It is very well thought out - and lived out. It really comes across that the author has has gone through this herself and is helping others from a place of real and tested experience, and from a generous heart to ease the path for other survivors.

I wouldn't say I'm a reader by nature but I've have read your book. I found it an `easy read' which is odd given the seriousness of the subject matter. I thought it very gently and sensitively dealt with some deep and challenging issues. I would certainly recommend it to anyone for whom it felt appropriate. Having counselled for many years there were some interesting sections which the book raised. For example, the inability to set appropriate boundaries in adulthood when boundaries have been so violated in childhood.
Thank you - it is a very worthwhile addition to resources available to people who have experienced the trauma of abuse. And thank you for being brave enough to share and write about your experiences - I hope the book with bring freedom insight and wholeness to many.

Definately worked when needed help understanding and moving on,cheap aswell and arrived really quickly. Would really recommend,at a time when need clarity and maybe closure to move on.
