My son wore this tie with a black/grey/white checked shirt to a wedding and it looked amazing. It complemented the shirt perfectly and stood out without being showy or tacky. It took the tie shape well and hung nicely. Perhaps for an 11 year old it could have been a couple of inches longer as it wouldn't have tucked into trousers, but we got away with the length of it as it was such a nice tie.
