I have just read the previous review about this book, which prompted my review! It's right in saying it does not cover the R56 (07-Present MINI) but it is a very good book which does cover the R50, R52, R53 (MINI COOPER AND S 01-06) There is lots of tuning advise for these models (pulleys, intercoolers, exhaust etc. As well as a chapter on the Works Challenge cars. Good photography and generally a good reference book to refer back to.

Not Quite What I Was Expecting

Being a Haynes performance manual I assumed that there would be step-by-step how-tos on some of the performance mods. I was sorely mistaken.
This book covers the different levels of modification you can give your MINI and explaining the Pros and Cons of each level. It covers MINI One, MINI cooper, MINI cooper s, and MINI cooper JCW. There are tons of photos and entertaining commentary.
It would be a great book if you need guidance on how far you want to go with modifying your MINI but not if you actually need to know HOW to do those modifications.
Regardless, it's well written and entertaining even if it wasn't what I was expecting.
