As a Latin major I have acquired numerous texts for the various classes I've had to take over the years. None of the reference texts have been particularly exciting and this one is no exception, however, I would consider it one of the better ones. Using Woodcock's Syntax in conjunction with Bradley's Arnold for a prose comp class, my grammar skills are gradually being reinforced after many classes of strict translation. Some of the English constructions are a little dated, making it unclear at times, but the explanations are effective enough. One issue that I have not experienced (although many of my classmates have) is the spine of the book being extremely weak. It seems to be a characteristic of this publisher. In short, this is a decent text that serves its purpose, but I wouldn't curl up in front of a fireplace with it.
