Functional, mouse action not brilliant, but got it to be mainly used with Openelec/XBMC on a Rasberry Pi so will use the lower up/down & left right keys more instead of the "mouse." Something worth knowing - if you intend ONLY to use it with Openelec version of XBMC, you can use your TV remote control to operate the functions if your TV supports HDMI-CEC (modern TVs), so you might not need one at all once you have set it all up using a USB keyboard. Also try Yatse on Android devices & (I believe iPhone too)

Trying to get this remote control to respond can often be a bit of a nightmare, even with a brand new battery. The mouse is terrible but the control is sufficient for XBMC most of the time.

The unit is of the expected build and after some issues with my Raspberry Pi at first, it seems to be working fine now.
Sometimes it needs for you to unplug the receiver from the USB port and then back again.

The main problem is the sensor. It's not very sensitive. I usually have to point it in a specific way for it to catch the signal, and that's not very comfortable.

I still have yet to learn how to configure this one properly for OpenELEC on my Raspberry Pi. Yes, the main buttons work fine (play, pause, volume, arrows) but the other buttons are being pretty much useless with the factory config and apparently changing this config is FAR from intuitive or user friendly.

I got this because Bluetooth was giving me countless headaches with the Pi, it just wasn't working well. This one, what works and when it works, is pretty much out of the box and without any painful config. But it's not the best HTPC remote I have ever used. For the price, I suppose it's OK.

If you're going to get this for the Pi, don't bother - not the greatest remote for the Pi, but useful for hooking up to the PC to switch it off remotely.

Very light and versatile, it allows me to use the Pi as a Media Centre running XBMC with minimum hassle.

Given the price this is a great little remote. Comes with a cheap looking USB dongle and a similary cheap looking remote. That said its true plug’n’play – insert the donble into a USB slot in your Pi and you’re running within seconds.
Despite its price the remote is actually well thought out – there’s buttons for all the common tasks including media control and data entry and it works pretty much as you’d expect. I don’t have a huge living room but never had any issues with range or usage angles; it just seemed to work.
I haven’t plugged this into anything else yet (e.g. a Windows Media Center HTPC) to see what, if anything, happens, but if you want a cheap and cheerful media remote for your Pi, this is a fine choice.

A very cost effective IR remote solution that I've used for an OpenELEC (XBMC) Raspberry Pi setup. Yes, it feels quite cheap build quality, but that's because it is! That doesn't detract from its solid functionality, and good value for money. If you're looking for a remote for a living room setup, maybe go for something a little higher end, but this is perfect for a bedroom/2nd room setup, and for experimenting with your PI setup in general.

Waste of time. Terrible signal. Trying to login on this remote is terrible. The signal seems to be bad between the remote and the receiver. No instructions (even online). I have tried to contact seller but I don't have the option of "contact seller" for this item for some reason.

Stay clear!!
