More About the Author

Henry Alan Jefferies was born in Cork, Ireland, in 1961. He married his wife, Una, in 1987 and has two children, James and Rosemary. He graduated from the National University of Ireland (UCC) in 1982 with a 1st class honours BA. He holds a MSc from the University of Ulster and a PhD from the Queen's University, Belfast. He has published books on Irish Church history, and the history of Cork, edited volumes on Church history, and written many articles on Irish Church history. His teaching career included years as a demonstrator and assistant lecturer at UCC and the University of Ulster, and post-primary teaching in Ireland and England. He is currently the Head of History at Thornhill College, Derry, and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Ulster.

He has written and edited several books of history, and published a series of articles in the "Journal of the Cork Historical & Archaeological Society," and elsewhere. His two great interests are the history of Cork, and Irish Church History.
