When I first bought this revision guide, I had the impression that it would be a good book. Knowing that this is the first ever revision guide covering this new maths specification, well was meant to be covering the new specification anyway, I bought it as it may help me in my exams. Indeed, I was wrong, the book did not cover things like SOH CAH TOA and so on. I trusted Collins! I have bought many books from them previously and when I saw this, I bought it straight away. However, I was unimpressed the last two sections of the book seems as though its been rushed at the end. No SOH CAH TOA, and how can they forget PYTHAGORAS THEOREM?

The book also doesn't cover: Angles, symmetry, enlargements, perimeters of circle or area of a circle and the list goes on!! Have a look at the specification on the exam board's maths website and there's more!! Also the same goes for the UNIT A2 section! This is quite sad and the topics I am listing is what came up most in the exam and this was not covered by the book. When buying the book it also made it unclear that it only covers the 'Extra content' and to be honest it should have covered a few of the difficult things in this specification. Furthermore, if it only covers the extra content why cost £15?

This is certainly not a student revision guide I would recommend and the only section that was helpful to me was Unit A1 Applications of mathematics. Everything else, just shameful!

In addition, I am a student who used this book throughout my exams and I have to say this book does not cover what will be in the exam! Due to this I struggled in my first unit!!!

I am in two minds about this book! I don't think it was clear from the description that that this book only covered the EXTRA subject content that forms the difference between the standard GCSE and the Linked Pair. Having Foundation and Higher levels in the same book could be confusing - they have tried to get round this with colour coding, (which I still haven't entirely got to grips with, but I am sure is a good idea!), which shows the level of every question.
I haven't used all the chapters yet, but, as an example, there are so many errors in the answers to Exercises 1C 1D and 1E that I could have screamed!

I am using this book as a maths tutor, and not with a whole class, so my opinions might be biased, and I don't know what else is available at this time.

Both AQA and Edexcel are piloting new GCSE Maths qualifications which involve awarding 2 Maths GCSEs rather like the existing Science ones. This book attempts to cover the extra topics that have been introduced. I must stress it only covers the new topics not everything in the syllabus but I haven't found any other text book which covers them (except old text (1980's) books which don't express the questions in a modern form. Very pleased I found this book.

I'm looking on this book as a bit of a Godsend. I am trying to help two children taking this course and have needed to learn some of this maths so that I can pass it on! Things have changed since my A-level and O-Level days! It is an add-on book to the standard GCSE revision guide, so don't be misled - this is not a comprehensive cover of all GCSE maths by any means, but invaluable nevertheless. And of course this is the extra material needed on top of the usual GCSE syllabus because it leads to not one but two maths GCSEs. I have found a few typing errors, but the exercises are very useful.

Brilliant resource for the double maths course. It covers topics in a way that the other resources do not. A more functional approach to some topics that gives youngsters insight into the financial/ business aspects of the subject.
