Product Description

Synopsis

Some might say there is 'nothing new under the Sun', yet the insights and vision outlined in the pages of this new book by Richard Abbot, might just offer some practical chance of applying the fundamentals of modern spirituality to the troubles that afflict our daily lives, test the planet and threaten our very existence. The book begins by looking fully at the problems we face, examining what went wrong, how it came to be this way and where we are heading. The book then moves forward and offers practical suggestions for changing things, both in your life and the world around you. The ideas proposed are radical, yet simple and empower everyone who is willing to apply them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Day, 26 Oct 2007
A New Day approaches the topics of spiritual growth and self development in ways that are sincere and engaging.

Richard has adopted an interesting style of writing this book. It is arranged in two parts with chapters within each part. Each chapter is structured around a theme, within which there are lots of numbered paragraphs of varying length related to the theme. This was not in any way a barrier for me but helped to reinforce the point he was making. It also made it easier to make links with other ideas within the book. Because of the way it organised there is no one chapter or one section that stands out more than others, though I have a preference for reading Part 2 rather than Part 1.

He uses both published research and personal experience to describe how and why the world is the way it is, how this impacts on our lives and the implications for the relationships we have with ourselves and others. It's a book of spiritual development in the broadest sense of knowing, loving and trusting oneselves over and above any religious organisation.

A New Day is an empowering book because it doesn't just talk about what's wrong and why but it also goes into how we can move towards putting things right.

Richard Abbot writes with conviction and humilty. I recommend this book highly.
