4.0 out of 5 stars A great collection of viepoints, 1 Mar 1999
By A Customer
Although this is not the single best book on documentary film, it is arguably the best collection of essays gathered on the subject. A wide range of viewpoints are represented, and the organization is logical and easily understood. This was a text in a documentary production course I took as a graduate student, and now that I will be teaching such a course, I plan to use it as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still relevant for today's documentarist., 14 Jun 1998
By A Customer
The articles Rosenthal collected are the best in the field. The documentary needs more theoretical input like this to give the new film makers a better understanding of the art of documentary film making.

1.0 out of 5 stars Uninformed, often silly., 3 Feb 1997
By A Customer
Rosenthal comes at his subject from the point of view of a hack, and it shows. Depressing.
