amazingly individual 2 July 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I heard the start of this and was hit by the spectacular piano intro, followed by a beautiful slow 'Radiohead' like beginning. Then hitting into the massive guitar rifts making this single one of the most diverse individual singles of the year. I thoroughly recommend it.

oh my god! 15 Jun 2001
Format:Audio CD
i'll list the tracks first....1.new born 2.shrinking universe 3.piano thing 4.new born (video) this single is the best i've ever heard in my life. believe me, i'm not a die-hard muse fan who doesn't listen to anything but this band, but... this music is absolutely beautiful! you might've heard "new born" on the radio, so you know how great this track is. "shrinking universe"... it feels like i've always wanted to hear a song like this, but nobody every recorded one before. amazing feeling! "piano thing" is a very emotional and , in a sense, overwhelming solo piano track, reminding of both keith jarrett and rakhmaninov. at the same time, it's muse, and you can hear it. i enjoyed the video directed by david slade, too, i think this is exactly what it should be. i believe that muse should be especially appreciated by those listening to a lot of different music, like i do. their music is a great mix of everything i like, it's not just rock or indie or whatever. thanks, muse, and say thanks to your MUSE:)

New born 15 Mar 2012
Format:Audio CD
This is an exelent single by one of my favourite bands muse. New born itself is a classic it starts off with a upbeat piano then Matthew Bellamy launches straight into one of the best intros on a song in years with his guitar, the song itself is pretty heavy but Matts singing throughout remains exelent and never goes into a scream. The single comes backed with two B-sides "piano thing" which is what it says on the tin. A small piano peice that Matt plays it doesnt get boring however and i actually enjoyed it. "Map of yoor head" is one of my fav B-sides it's a very up beat song to the point it's almost comical. It is mainly played on acoustic. Then the single ends with crowd fav "Plug in baby" this is a live track of one of Muses best and well known songs which sounds even better live!
