5.0 out of 5 stars Flippin' great! 17 Jan 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The NWN game is some years old by now. And, as with so many games was not released without bugs some of them major, but almost all bugs are now fixeable with free online updates, otherwise would have lost a star. But it is worthy of being considered a classic of the genre.

Yes, the graphics are old. Yes, the gameplay is no longer original. But the game is stable after updating and will run on almost any Windows XP computer, mainly since system requiements are low as one would expect for a game over 5 years old.

There are still servers out there (!) for those that prefer online play. For those interested in more Single Player story/campaign modes (of the three campaigns included I would say that at least two of them were good), there's 50-100 hours worth of play for under a fiver.

Whether you're an old Baldur's Gate veteran, or a new player looking for an old bargain; this is a great value fantasy CRPG compendium.

It *is* possible to get the game working on Vista/Win7 but some setups may need careful tweaking (I was lucky, all I needed to do was to make sure I run it as an Administrator). The official forums will have all the info you should need, if you need it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Golden oldie. 7 July 2011
By Jacks
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I'm old enough (and maybe sad enough) to be a veteran of the gold box SSI and big box Baldur's gate and SOA. These games have always appealed to me due to the scope and depth of the them.

I felt Neverwinter fell well short of the expectations set after the Baldur's/Icewind Dale series. It couldn't compare in any department; Voice over's, atmosphere, graphics and story line.

The first Neverwinter instalment is the worst; random chest's everywhere, with little of no worth in them, lot more linear. Also to nice for me (annoying voice acting for the female paladin and fenwick) you can't pop into some random home and rob and kill the inhabitant like in Baldur. Nowhere near as many deep or varied side quests.....but saying this compared to other games, it's still very good. There is definitely a big improvement in the two expansions, they even feel somewhere like the previous Forgotten Realms games.

At the time of writing this review, you can get this for two quid!!! what a bargain, i recently went through the game again, with a current system this game runs like a dream. If you never got this at the time of release or just fancy i bit of nostalgia- at two quid you can't go wrong.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game
It's an old game, very adictive. With the old D&D rules. It's quite long, so it's a great inversion given it's price.
