‘A dark, twisting thriller that shows all too well how you can never escape the sins of your past.’ Simon Kernick
‘Fans of crime writer Nicci French will enjoy this.’ Closer Magazine
Your past will always find you…
With her three beautiful children, millionaire husband and Cotswolds mansion, former investigative journalist Rose Miller has an enviable life. But behind the domestic bliss lies a secret past…
As Oxford students in the early nineties, Rose and James belonged to Society X, an elite clique that knew no boundaries. Led by the enigmatic Dalziel, the group were hell bent on breaking down society's norms - until an unimaginable tragedy occurs.
With the subsequent scandal covered up, Rose has settled into family life - but is afraid to admit her feelings of boredom. So when her ex-editor asks Rose to dig the dirt on a wealthy businessman new to the area, adrenaline enlivens her.
But as Rose's investigation begins to threaten her family she backs away - and then a tragedy at her home begins to widen the cracks in her domestic façade. As their world crumbles around them, is Rose about to atone for the sins of her past?
An utterly gripping novel that will captivate fans of Sophie Hannah and Nicci French.

can we ever escape our past,
By
This review is from: Never Tell (Paperback)
This book is full of twists and turns, it has the reader guessing from page 1, it flicks from past to present very easily so you dont lose sight of the plot. As a young girl Rose wants to be in with the "popular" crowd, which includes a secret group, but very soon the group reveals its much darker side as a tragedy threatens to destroy lives, can Rose ever be allowed to move on, to live the life she has now created for herself as a journalist married to her childhood sweetheart and their 3 children, or will everything she has worked so hard for be destroyed by sins of the past. Very soon, whilst following a story, it becomes apparent that the past and present are coming together, and Rose is determined to seek out the truth, even if it destroys everything she thinks she holds dear.
This book is a real page turner, i loved every word, and found myself dying to read the end, it takes mighty willpower not to cheat and take a quick peek, real edge of the chair reading.

This was a great book - a real page turner. Wouldn't call it a true thriller but it is certainly fast paced and very enjoyable with some intriguing characters.

Enjoyable but................,
This review is from: Never Tell (Paperback)
it doesn't live up to the expectations on the cover. On the front of my issue is a statement by Simon Kernick (An author I like) and it says; 'A dark twisting thriller' Well, in my opinion, it is not dark or twisting. I enjoyed reading it and wanted to get to the end but, like Lullaby, there are bits in that are far fetched. I will read another of Claire's books but it does not match up to the hype.
