Known for taking well known tunes and putting their own ribald and risqué lyrics to them, the Wurzels have decided to on a new formula with this offering. What we have is a series of well known pop songs covered by the zider drinking combine `arvester driving country lads, using their inimitable west country accents and instruments.
I must confess that it doesn't quite work for me. In the main what we have is a well known song replicated almost note for note, but sung with a funny accent with a few ooh ars and chicken noises in the background. It's mildly interesting, but not really different enough to the originals to be great. Things take off occasionally, such as Don't Look Back In anger, and Country House, but in general it doesn't grab your attention. .
So in all three stars. Listenable, mildly amusing, with two good tracks and lots of filler.
