Book Description

When the beast leaves his lair…
Labeled a lunatic and a reprobate, Lord Jason Lockwood finds solace in debauchery outside the realm of Polite Society. Scarred both inside and out, Jason can’t possibly hope to regain a place within the ton…until he meets an alluring and persuasive young lady. When she offers to help him reclaim respectability, he’s tempted not by the possibility of a better reputation, but by the lure of seduction. With her by his side, he not only sees what he’s been missing, but also how much he stands to lose.

A beauty’s touch provokes his desire…
Lady Lydia Prewitt is everything a debutante should be: beautiful, dowried, and in possession of a sterling reputation. But Lydia’s former life as a gossip has ensured a lonely path. When the opportunity to assist the scandalous yet seductive Lord Lockwood gain entry into London’s best ballrooms, she glimpses a chance for a future she never dreamed of—if he’s willing to meet her halfway. But how can she risk falling in love with a scoundrel if it means joining him in exile?

5.0 out of 5 stars SPICY REGENCY ROMANCE 3 Jun. 2013
    By Reader TOP 50 REVIEWER
    Format:Kindle Edition
Lord Jason Lockwood lives on the fringes of polite society. Thought of by the rest of the ton as mad, scarred and a seducer, he is renowned for his parties where anything goes.
Lord Lockwood has a half brother born to one of Jason's father's mistresses, Ethan Jagger had suddenly appeared back in society after a long absence calling himself Ethan Lock. With the death of another peer who was the leader of a gang of thieves, and Ethan's past crimes it seems obvious to Lord Lockwood that the two are connected. Determined to discover more Lord Lockwood decides to pay a call on Lady Aldridge the widow. It is at Lady Aldridge's front door he meets Lady Lydia Prewitt, who was also there to pay her respects to the widow.

Lydia Prewitt had been in London for six seasons and has never received an offer for her hand. This was mainly due to her Aunt Margaret, who was the tons most vicious gossip, she was feared and reviled with equal measure. When Lydia meets Lord Lockwood, there is an instant attraction between them, his scarred face does not bother Lydia it merely adds to his appeal.

But Lydia's aunt hates Lord Lockwood above all others, and when she discovers Lydia has met him, she expects her to help in his downfall. But Lydia finds she cannot do her aunts bidding. Instead she sets about helping him to re-enter society.

I love regency romances, but had not read anything by this author previously. This story has everything IMO. Romance, drama and murder. Plus the love scenes are sensuous and passionate. I really liked how the characters developed as the story unfolded. Jason and Lydia were perfect together. Aunt Margaret was deliciously evil. Jason's half brother Ethan is the subject of the next book. I will definitely be reading that.

2.0 out of 5 stars Shallow Characters 22 July 2014

    Format:Kindle Edition
I hate giving a book only 2 stars. However, I was so disappointed in this book I struggled to finish it. Currently, I read 6 - 10 books in this genre each week but this one just didn't do it for me.

Lord Jason Lockwood hosts debauched gatherings in his home on a regular basis. He holds these gatherings because he no longer feels accepted in Polite Society due to his mother's "madness" and the belief by some that he is afflicted with the same seed of madness that drove his mother from Society. The illicit gatherings he holds in his home are important to him because they are his primary social outlet and the only place he feels a measure of acceptance.

Jason's deceased father was a philanderer and in Jason's youth, the elder Lockwood flaunted his mistress and his bastard son, Ethan, in the face of Jason and his mother. This caused Jason to resent Ethan and now there is nothing but ill feelings between the two of them. To make matters worse, a few years earlier, Jason and Ethan had a major brawl in Jason's home which ended in Jason's face being horribly scarred. His scarred face is another reason he doesn't enjoy Society.

Lady Lydia Prewitt is on a never-ending mission to get whatever juicy tidbits she can find to satisfy her Aunt Margaret's craving for gossip. Aunt Margaret has Lydia over a barrel, because if she can't keep her Aunt satisfied with gossip, then Lydia will be banished to the country estate of her father which is a one day's ride to any type of civilization. She can't bear to go back there. However, she has earned such a reputation as being a gossip monger, many people don't trust her. She is trying desperately to find some way to satisfy Aunt Margaret without damaging other people's lives.
