One of the greatest live rock albums ever,
By A Customer
This review is from: Never Let Go (Audio CD)
An astounding set ans a wonderful introduction to one of the finest British rock groups around, this is a recording of the triumphal comeback tour the band made in 1993. The group was touring its masterpiece "Dust and Dreams" and there is a full performance here. Amazingly, the live rendition of this is even better than the studio original - and that is a five star album in itself. The music comes across even more movingly and the vocals by latimer and bass blend superbly. Latimer's guitar-playing has never sounded better, and that is saying something! Paul Burgess is on top form at the drum kit and new recruit Micky Soimmonds continues in the great tradition of Camel keyboard players by being fabulous.Other highlights are the remarkable new version of their 1978 classic "Echoes" on disc 1 (a musical resume of the band's entire career); along with a magnificent "Unevensong". One of the best albums in my collection.

The best Camel live album since "A Live Record",

Was this Camel unplugged, was my first thoughts as the title track, "Never Let Go", filled the room with acoustic guitar. Although I was wrong this set the mood for the rest of the album.Very much a similar format to "A Live Record", in two live sets, with the first CD giving you a brief but excellent history of the first 20 years of live Camel. The second CD a complete, and I must say magnificent, live rendition of "Dust and Dreams". And what a fabulous performance considering at this point there were only four members in the band. My room was filled as if a full orchestra was supporting Camel. The only thing missing was the harmonies of the female voice in "Rose of Sharon" but there has to be some compromises with a live performance. I still think "A Live Record" holds the raw edge but it well deserves a 5 star marking and is a must for all Camel enthusiasts.

One of the most under-rated bands of all time. I always felt they needed an Annie Haslam to add another dimension because there is a similarity between Renaissance and Camel, Camel at times are like Reinassance without Annie Haslam. Its nice to be able to replay a concert that you were at; superb live and superb on CD. A Live Record just about pips it but both are 5 stars and both essential listening for anyone who enjoys Camel; and if you've never heard them then buy! You will not be disappointed.
