Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Wolfgang Petersen (In the Line of Fire) made his first English-language film with this 1984 fantasy about a boy (Barret Oliver) visualising the stories of a book he's reading. The imagined tale involves another boy, a warrior (Noah Hathaway), and his efforts to save the empire of Fantasia from a nemesis called the Nothing. Whether or not the scenario sticks in the memory, what does linger are the unique effects, which are not quite like anything else. Plenty of good fairy-tale characters and memorable scenes, and the film even encourages kids to read. --Tom Keogh

Synopsis
In 'The NeverEnding Story' a young boy discovers an extraordinary book. In 'The NeverEnding Story 2 - The Next Chapter' Bastian is reunited with his friends in Fantasia.

5.0 out of 5 stars Neverending enjoyment!, 8 Feb 2004
By Mr. T. J. Gee "djterryg" (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The Neverending Story was the first film I ever went to see at the cinema. I had been pestering my father to take me to see it for months as a poster of the film was pinned up in our local shop. Being only five years old, the film amazed me and in parts really frightened me. I remember having to sleep with my parents that night as I couldn't get to sleep!

Nearly twenty years on and this is still my favourite film. I must have seen it over 200 times and I still get butterflies in my stomach, laugh and cry. With an amazing storyline, loveable characters and spectacular special effects; this truly is a wonderful movie which young and old can appreciate and is one film that I will always hold dear to my heart.

Why is it called The Neverending Story? …Because as long as you have imagination and dreams, the story will never die!

5.0 out of 5 stars Still good to this day!, 24 Sep 2003
By A Customer
I remember watching this many years ago when I was 5. Now being 22, I still enjoy this film. A good fantasy film that captured my imagination as a child.

Some parts do look dated, like the clothes and hair styles, but the important parts of the film are timeless.

Even though this film is quite old the effects aren't too bad. Acting, even by the children, is better than some acting seen in movies today.

If you have a young child who likes fairy stories and fantasy lands then you can't go wrong with this. especially with it being so cheap.

Have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars The never ending story- The story that never ends, 17 Jul 2003
One of the very first movies I watched was The never ending story and right from the beginning it mesmorized me.

It was done back in the days when special effects weren't all that special, but the movie itself is mind blowing, the plot is quite straightforward and yet, everybody who will or who has watched it will be able to sympathise with Bastian the main character,
the music is breathtaking and beautiful.

I give this movie 5 stars because although it is old, it is still one of many movies you can watch and still love today.
The characters are amazing each are able to contribute, to the movie in one way or another.

I urge anyone who is yet to see this movie, to go and rent or buy it. It is worth it, it is magically and easily one of the best movies still of today.
