This latest book by Christina Jones brings in new characters as well as familiar ones. Set in a vintage clothes shop "Never Can Say Goodbye" centres on Francesca Meredith, who is given the shop by her former boss. On opening the shop, she finds unexpectedly, a number of ghosts inhabiting the shop, including one unhappy elderly man desperate to be rejoined with his dead wife. The ghost story is far more "Heaven Can Wait and "It's a Wonderful Life" than the "Exorcist"!

One of nicest things about Christina Jones books is the plausibility of the characters. In this book, the side story about Cherish and Brian is beautifully written and very endearing. It is made believable by the fact they are ordinary people, whose lives are rarely put into books. In fact I was as satisfied by the ending of this separate story as the main one. Christina has a gentle, warm wit and an ability to tap into modern culture whilst retaining a traditional and uplifting feeling to her books. I was slightly concerned that as she is writing a book a year at present her books would become formulaic and less satisfying to read. I need not have worried; this is as good as her previous books. Guaranteed to make you smile and bring a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

I'm a massive fan of Christina's books - they let me step out of reality into another world (actually a Village!) full of delightful, eccentric characters. I must admit I wasn't confident that the "ghost" storyline would work - but, for me, it did, and I enjoyed the book just as much as her previous stories.

This story centres around Frankie, the new owner of a vintage dress shop and Dexter who runs the flower stall and their developing romance. One or two of the old regular characters feature and plenty more are mentioned in conversations throughout the story. Add an eccentric medium, a few (equally eccentric) ghosts, a blossoming romance between two more characters and some poignant moments and you have another lovely read...

Christina manages to give all her characters depth while making them instantly likeable, honest and humorous and I find that there is something about each of them that I can relate to. And of course there's a happy ending for everybody!

I read somewhere that this would be the last book in this series - I hope it isn't as I would really miss my visits to this lovely, quirky, corner of Berkshire!

This was the first book I've read by Christina Jones and I was really pleased that I had had decided to buy this heart warming story. There's something so warm and cosy about the little village and the vintage dress shop and I loved that the author described the surroundings as well as the characters making everything come alive. The added dimension of the ghosts was great and added a bit of humour too. Overall a good read but there are parts which were a bit predictable and I felt it was a bit slow paced at times. However, I wasn't expecting an amazing award winner and 'Never can say goodbye' filled the spaces before bedtime (when I should have been doing uni reading!) brillantly.

I found this book very easy to read and could hardly put it down! I finished it within a few days and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fairly predictable but I really enjoyed reading how the characters relationships developed. The main character, Frankie, is a bit over emotional which made me want to say "Man up woman!" - Other than that it's an enjoyable read.
