Product Description

This is an update of what for almost three decades has been the classic textbook of clincial neuropsychological assessment . . . In general, there is now more on neuro-imaging and a better integration of insights from cognitive neuropsychology. The limitations of findings from neuro-imaging studies are however highlighted throughout . . . A particular strength remains the provision of strong links between research findings and clinical practice. There is also more on the implications of neuropsychological assessment for the practice of neuropsychological rehabilitaion, in effect removing the rather artificial barrier between assessment and rehabilitation . . . Are there any gaps in this truly phenomenal textbook? The short answer is no . . . [This book] represents a monumental achievement by the authors and remains the most important text on clinical neuropsychological assessment. No practitioner or researcher should be without it. (ACNR)

The book is a veritable graduate course in the field of psychological assessment, and readers will find information chronicling the most effective ways psychologists have to evaluate and examine the inner workings of the brain... a must-have for all clinicians in the field for use as a reference companion regarding patient diagnosis and treatment. This book provides a really good overview many neuropsychological tests, providing the reader with the information needed to choose an appropriate measure. Although some of the literature cited is a little out of date, it nevertheless provides a good starting point, and the sections on brain damage are clearly written and insightful. Worth every penny if you are involved in neuropsychological assessment.

I find this an excellent overview of Neuropyschological Assessment techniques with some nice examples of use. I generally found the book to be well organised, enjoyable to read and comprehensive.

Lezak's Neuropsychological Assessment 9 Sep 2005
By Thomas R. Shaffer - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Highly recommended! If there is one indispensable text in the field of Clinical Neuropsychology this is it, both for the practicing neuropsychologist and the student. As with the previous editions this text really has no equal in the field. It is the reference I pull most frequently from my bookshelf.

A core text 9 Feb 2008
By J. Severino - Published on
Format: Hardcover
This text was prescribed reading for the course in Neuropsychological Assessment during my post-graduate studies in psychology. It is comprehensive, and a fundamental text for the area. I consult it constantly when testing: one can become a little relaxed and forget the fundamentals. Complaints? It is a little out of date with regards to tests that are out there for examining different neuropsychological functions. You would need an additional text for this, such as Spreen and Strauss.
