Review

"An extraordinary work of scholarship . . . The strength of this book is the strong clinical emphasis that is incorporated from lessons learned from basic and clinical research . . . The book is so comprehensive, it is beyond criticism . . . remains a treasure for those interested in neurologic problems of the newborn, serving both as a resource and as a stimulus for future research endeavors." - Pediatric Neurology, review of the 4th edition

Great resource but the Kindle version TOC doesn't match the text! 14 Sep 2011

This is a gold standard resource text for neonatologists and pediatric neurologists. However my complaint is that the Kindle version has a hyperlinked table of contents that corresponds poorly with the actual material. I find it very difficult to find the beginning of chapters relative to where the hyperlink sends me (it's often more than a few pages off).
Can someone fix this? (Should be pretty easy...)
A must own for child neurologists 3 Jun 2014

Pros: This is the most comprehensive text available on the neurological development of the fetus and newborn. It's very well organized and a pleasure to read.

Cons: No colour photographs. I have both the Kindle and hardcover copies. I bought the hardcover years ago when it was printed beautifully on glossy paper. However, colleagues who have purchased the book since then have received it on matte paper where the image quality isn't as good as my version.
Simply the best! 21 Jun 2013

This is undoubtfully THE source of knowledge for the basics and more for neonatologists who deal with neurology and its problems in NICUs.
The e-book is not perfect-the links not always are related and many times the bok starts over from te beginning, but it's a GREAT source, even though.
Excellent review 27 May 2013

A fantastic review of current and historical data pertaining to neurological development in the newborn. Relevant citations make this a great reference for neonatologists, neurosurgeons, and neurologists. Very approachable and comprehensive text with easily referenced tables and figures to distill the prose.
Excellent reference- a treatise worth reading! 11 Dec 2011

I have the hardcover edition of the book and reading through it is like having Dr Volpe sit down and share his experience with you, with references to supporting evidence in the literature. Pain-staking work of a luminary in the field. I was particularly impressed by the approach to white matter disease. Only minor gripe I have is the images are not as good as one would expect in the day of 3 Tesla MRI, but this is probably the radiologist in me nit-picking!
