It's certainly an easy read, and lives up to the promise of inspiring the reader to seize the moment and opportunities to make more friends - it does contain practical tips on organising social functions, viewing all contacts as new friends until proven otherwise, bringing together networks of accquantances and so on...
I'm not sure what my expectations were, but it felt a little content light... the same points are made a number of times in not terribly different ways. The writer's background as a BBC producer is brought up for inspection many times, and the general feel of the book gives me the feeling that one of her media friends at one of her Christmas Parties (you'll hear a lot about those) suggested she write a book that they could publish for her...
Enough of the negativity. Don't expect major life changes, that isn't what the book promises. You'll get some useful tips and an entertaining read from an obviously likeable woman who's good at social skills.
This is a thoroughly good read, very easy going and with plenty of real world situations.
Skip the hoopla and terminology, buy in to the co-operative nature of relationships, don't be selfish and there is plenty in here to enable to go right out and use it day to day to make contacts.
