This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn how to implement a referral marketing strategy for their business. (it's not the right book for you if you want a networking book which will help you find your next job - buy 'Brilliant networking' instead. It gives you all the tools and templates that you need to put the authors advice into action. I would recommend it to any business owner who is thinking of joining a networking club or group. I just wish some of the people I had met whilst networking had read this book before they came out!

I enjoyed reading it, and found the use of case studies and stories from the authors inspiring and useful.

It is very pro BNI - but as one of the authors is the founder of the BNI network, this is not surprising.

I have only given it 4 stars because it has a very 'light' chapter on using online networking as part of your networking strategy. This chapter does not talk about the importance of engagement with your on-line audience, and seems to advocate a 'broadcast' strategy when on-line networking, rather than a pull strategy.

This book brings together a lot of the information from Ivan Misner's earlier work on networking.

While, of course (as the founder of BNI), he makes a lot of joining a formal, weekly networking group, there is still a wealth of information on how to network day-to-day and even in situations which are not normally business-orientated - but without you seeming pushy.

I keep my copy in my briefcase, so I can dip in and remind myself of different aspects of networking when I'm on the bus, train, etc.

If you buy one book on effective networking, this has to be the one.
