This is the best book on networking I've come across. It is clearly geared towards a sophisticated business audience and covers a lot of ground in a very readable and enjoyable style. The other books I've read on Networking tend to stick to the basics of how to meet people, but this goes much further and, to my mind, is an ideal tool for anyone who wants to succeed in building relationships in a professional way. It makes the point very well, that we already have a wealth of contacts, but we need the techniques to tap into this resource successfully.

John Timperley's book covers all the basics of networking and encourages the nervous networker out of his or her shell with some simple and practical tips. Real life examples are quoted and the book is not without humour, so it is easy to identify with the situations. I learned a thing or two about table manners! The content can be applied along the spectrum of serious business networking to social networking and the reader feels that if he/she put the tips into practice he/she would appear practised, polished and an elegant "connector". John Timperley's writing style is almost conversational, the reader feels he/she is listening to John presenting the book's content. It is easy to follow and I found myself wanting to constantly turn to the next page to see what tips were on offer!

This is a gem - a management book that actually will produce results. Unlike many others I have read which are boring and uninformative, this book combines common sense, practical advice which can be applied at differing levels of networking and - most rare - the right level of humour which helps the messages stick in the memory.

It is clearly written by someone who is used to operating in the real world. This is not theory - this is good, practical advice and I would urge you to read it.

It is written in a very easily absorbed manner, in good "chunks" which can be taken on board and applied when needed. It ranges from basic information which can provide reassurance for the young person starting out in business and who may not be sure of the "right thing to do" in a variety of situations - social and business - up to the subtle means of cementing relationships, crucial in differentiating your proposition from all others.

John Timperley knows his stuff - read, learn and benefit
