Convenient But Limited Performance

I purchased a Netgear EVA20000 Digital Entertainer set box and Netgear EVAW111 Wireless USB Adapter. The DE and Wireless Adapter set up is straight forward and easy enough. We were able to view YouTube video, Hulu, CBS, CNN, ESPN, and Home Network media on our HDTV using the DE and USB Wireless Adapter. The DE offers menu access to VuNow server content including Popular Websites and Internet TV. Unfortunately this VuNow content does not load or function properly using the Wireless Adapter. If you purchase this Wireless Adapter you may find that it is acceptable despite the limited functionality and performance. I am disappointed that Netgear does not disclose the limitations of this USB adapter especially not being able to access some content. It was frustrating and involved several sessions with VuNow tech and Netgear tech troubleshooting what turns out to be a product limitation. Netgear eventually informed me that the adapter is limited in terms of bandwidth. The DE works flawlessly with a wired internet connection. A wired internet connection is far superior to using this wireless adapter; however the adapter does provide convenience. The DE set box has two USB slots however only one is functional at a given time so for example if you have portable drive content you want to access you would need to unplug the USB Wireless Adapter to access the other device. My plan is to add a cable wired connection to our family room to connect to the DE and HDTV and put the USB Wireless Adapter back in the box. Like most homes, we have TV in several rooms throughout the house. I'll hold onto the USB Wireless Adapter to use on the occasions we want to use the DE in other rooms to view content the EVAW111 Wireless Adapter is capable of handling.

I bought this to use with the EVA2000 Digital Entertainer Live. I was a little concerned about the range of the device because the room I planned to use it in was at least 40 feet from my router. One other reviewer noted that the range was limited.
I was pleasantly surprised to find I the signal was 4 out of 5 bars. The set up was easy. I use Network Magic to manage my network and followed the usual protocol for adding a device to my wpa2 secured network...no problems.
