Recently moved to Virgin and found that the supplied (Netgear router) has a very weak signal. When placed in our ground floor study it would reach our kitchen (the next room) and scarcely reached our lounge. Speed dropped from c9mbps to .25mbs.
Very easy to set up. You plug it in (which I did in our kitchen), press the button on top of the router and then press a button on the extender and it automatically connects. It gives you the same router ID as you main one with _EXT at the end and you access the Netgear extender by selecting it and simply inputting the same passphrase as you main router. You are effectively have access to two networks. Given that our kitchen is in the centre of the house we are all logged on to it with a good range extension. Getting 8/9 mbps in the lounge now and a reach in the rest of the house we didn't have before. Took two mins, that's all.
Have had it running for a couple of weeks now and repeatedly tests the broadband speed and it has held up well. Go for this one if
- you want something really easy
- don't want to play around with wires
- the range you want to extend to is about a further 40 or so metres.
It is very easy to move it around to try and get the best signal from your router and the extender does show you the quality of the signal. The only potential drawback is that as it plugs in directly the line of sight from your plug socket to the main router may not always be that good ie it may be behind a sofa or chest of drawers etc. If this looks to be a problem then you might want to look at one where you can place the extender where you want.

This wireless extender is very easy to setup. It took me about 15 seconds to pair this with my Netgear wireless router.
Place the extender where the signal strength is reasonably good.

Thanks to Amazon, received the product quickly.....from mainland Europe. The main drawbacks of ordering from Amazon are:
1. The setup instructions are NOT in English. I had to look-up Netgear site for English instructions
2. The plug is European!!! with a UK converter. This does not allow the extender to be plugged to UK plug-point vertically. It jets out.
3. More expensive than UK stores like PC-World/Curry's

This is only the second Netgear device I've ever bought.

The other, the Netgear WNR-2000 router was SO bad, and Netgear's customer service was SO automated and useless, that I set up a website to show potential customers Netgear's email replies. Their products may come with a 2-year Technical Support warranty, but once you see how bad that support is, you'll realise it's next to worthless.

And, in my case, when I tried to post questions about my problems on Netgear's Forum, they'd simply never appear. The router had a known issue going back many years, but they didn't want the world to know about it.

Thankfully, this Netgear product is excellent (and I haven't need any technical support). You plug it in, connect to it via a browser, and set it all up from there.

It's probably been the easiest networking device I've ever used, and is a lifesaver in getting my Wi-Fi connection to the hard to reach places in my house.

The alternative, of course, is to transmit your internet connection over your power lines, but this Wifi Extender allows me to share this extended Wi-Fi on my laptops, iPads, etc all over the house.

Worth the money, and recommended.
But good luck if you ever need support.

I received mine this morning. Because I use WEP protocol the WPS option doesn't work with WEP. The setup guide supplied with the extender explains clearly under option 2, how to set up using WEP. It took 5 minutes tops! I'm relatively computer savvy but now in the "old fart" category. I knew I was using WEP. If you're not really into computers, the chances are your using WPS where the set up is even easier. In any case simply follow the instructions and it'll work! I've just been surfing from the greenhouse!

I purchased this extender on the advice of my IT lads, and it is absolutely brilliant. Worth every penny. I would highly recommend it. I actually use my neighbour's internet, with their permission, and i can now get wifi any where in my house ! Thoroughly recommenced.

Bought this product after looking extensively. Works like a charm. Press a button and it joins the network and then it is an easy process to set it up. No more surprise bills from Mobile operators for unknowingly exceeding my limit!!

Purchased this and it was easy to configure and has a consistent output. Slightly pricey for what it does but worth it. Now have extensive coverage at home.

I have a Sky wireless router (Sagem I think) to connect to the internet for all our Apple toys. I used option 1 for set up which uses WPS (Wi-Fi protected setup). Took less than 5 min to set up from opening the box, to finding an appropriate place to plug it in, to surfing the Internet. You push the WPS button on the Netgear device then push the WPS button on the router and the connection is made. Go into settings on IPad and find the name of your Wi-Fi network which is your original + '_EXT' at the end. Enter same password and you are off and running. I bought this at a store; same price or cheaper than Amazon (sorry Amazon -still loyal though) and you don't have to wait.
