This is the simplest piece of tech I have ever set up. Out of the box to running on a laptop and 2 phones in under 15 minutes! It found my network instantly, and the setup on my laptop was easy enough for my extremely non pc literate other half to do. Couple this with the price point and its is a no brainer.
We suffer with a dead spot in the front bedroom and this allowed me to stream video with no buffering for the first time. I urge you to buy this if you need to extend your wireless connection, even if this kind of upgrade fills you with any sort of techno-fear. Simple and very effective.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Strangely, Amazon bunch together reviews from several Netgear extenders. This review is for the Netgear Trek Universal N300 Wi-Fi Range Extender and Travel Router, which I used at home with the Virginmedia Superhub 2.0. I've specifically mentioned my hub as I know a lot of people want to know if certain products work with their setup.

Anyway, onto the review. The Trek is designed to do a couple of things; firstly to work as a Wi-Fi extender in the home and secondly as a similar device if you're using a public network, in a library or hotel or similar public place. I have not used the Netgear out of my home so can't comment on it's usefulness there, however, my experience with it at home is a very good one indeed.

I live in an Edwardian terrace which is quite a long house with my router - the aforementioned Virgin Superhub 2 - in the living room at the front of the house. We tend to get good Wi-Fi coverage throughout the terrace apart from the kitchen which is way at the back of the house. Thanks to Vine I've tried a multitude of Wi-Fi extenders with mixed results. Some have worked fine for a while and then refuse to work while others have been a waste of time from first use. A Prime example being the TP-Link TL-WA850RE, which was great for 48 hours or so and then decided it didn't want to play any more.

The Trek Universal is quite a sizeable thing and sticks out from the wall socket by about 4 inches/10 CM. I've placed ours in our dining room which is midway between the router and the black spot in the kitchen. Luckily it's tucked away so isn't a trip hazard or anything.

I have a long thin Victorian house and my wifi router (downstairs, front) won't reach to my bedroom (upstairs, back). This is a neat solution, and works as well as other extenders I've been fortunate enough to be able to try out. You plug it in near your router, press the WPS button on the router (I had one on mine, though if you haven't you can connect it via the given website) and press the Network button on the extender - it links painlessly. Move your extender to where you need it, and connect your device to the extender output - it's as simple as that.

Solid performance and no drop outs. So far so good!

What a superb little device! It comes with a useful range of power options - USB, UK plug and Euro plug, and it can be used in all sorts of different ways. The most obviously useful way is to re-share a wifi connection, but it can also be used as a range extender, a bridge, and even to share a USB storage device or make a USB printer into a wifi printer. The manual is sensibly written and understandable, and the software interface is easy to use, but with a comprehensive advanced mode if you want it. I can think of loads of ways to use this clever little device, and all for under £18. Bargain!

When they were writing the instructions for this who's bright idea was it to say "Hey let's not mention the fact that the SSID is password protected or put the password instructions to access the SSID for the wifi signal in there until PAGE 16 after we've given them the instructions to set everything else up but specifically NOT mentioned the fact that a password is required OR told them what the password is. This way they can't actually follow the instructions on the first 16 pages without first randomly going to the end of the booklet to see that they need a password for the SSID"? Totally moronic instructions to set up a devise that you could probably set up in 5 minutes IF they mention a password is needed and put the password info on PAGE 1 instead of PAGE 16. So in short look at the password on the back of this device first and read the instruction booklet they give you backwards and it will function fine. It does work well provided you don't lose patience with the crappy instructions, written by a complete incompetent, and throw it out the window first.

Used on holiday as a travel router to share both Ethernet (wired) and Wifi Internet connections.

It worked perfectly in multiple hotels and campsites sharing the connection with iOS and Android devices.

Recommended.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I got this item to convert my personal computer to a wireless devise. It was very quick and easy to install and now I don't need to run a cable all around the room, which is great. A very robust unit that can go anywhere, so it doesn't stick out of the computer and the kids can't snap it off. I haven't used it to make my broadband faster but I'm sure it works well for this too, good item that has many uses.
