Unlike another commenter I had no problems with this item. It is intended to be used in conjunction with the Netgear Powerline AV 200 Adapter (XAV200) and there is no way that any one will get it to work by any other method. This (the Powerline AV 200 Wireless N-Extender (XAVN2001) is the wireless or (wired by ethernet) receiver. The XAV200 is the sender which connects to the router or modem/router. It might have been more helpful if Netgear had made this clear on the sales page. I have purchased it as an extra extender to my XAVN2001/XAV200 combo to give me increased network coverage and to assist me in staying connected to my network whilst moving a portable internet radio around my home.

I was hoping this product would solve our wireless coverage issues in our house. We have used plugs previously to attach cables to remote computers in our house so i am familiar with the technology and expected no issues. First problem was that for some bizarre reason it was sent by a german company from germany! It therefore requires a uk plug adaptor ( which was supplied ) which means it petrudes from the wall significantly more than it needs to. The product is available in the uk with uk plugs , so why Amazon are selling products with a german plug is beyond me!
Secondly I simply cannot get it to work. I have enlisted the help of our office IT manager and he couldn't either. we have a Netgear router so it should be straightforward but its not. really dissapointed
