Perfect For AOL Users, 1 Jun 2006
This review is from: Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Firewall Router with 4-port 10/100 Switch (Electronics)
Now, I've always been worried about the thought of setting up a wireless router and network. In fact, I've always been doubly worried as I have the added disadvantage of being an AOL Broadband user.
However, I needn't have worried. Setting up the Netgear in conjunction with the software downloaded from the AOL site was a breeze. I was honestly up and running in under ten minutes.
One minor grouch (with AOL, not with the router itself) was that AOL didn't state anywhere how to get into the wireless router settings to change and customise the privacy settings. I actually found out about that by reading the reviews on here.
Five stars for Netgear, three stars for AOL.

Netgear DG834G (Mac Os X 10.4 Tiger Compatible !), 11 May 2005
This review is from: Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Firewall Router with 4-port 10/100 Switch (Electronics)
After using a speed touch usb modem, I can see an increase in speed, I now have a permanent connection and it works well with the Macs new Tiger operating system. I am now going to add a buffalo G54 pmcia card to my Lombard Powerbook G3 with Panther to surf the web from around the house. At the moment I can plug in an ethernet cable to my laptop and surf from the livingroom. It recognises it straight away when turning on Safari as long as tcip settings are correct, now the kids can use the iMac and I can surf on my laptop, both downloading files at the same time! Good piece of kit! Recommended for Mac users!

Stable multi-function adsl router, 20 Feb 2006
This review is from: Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Firewall Router with 4-port 10/100 Switch (Electronics)
This piece of equipment is very good and stable; i have used it for over a year now, with 2 broadband providers. It has proven to be stable, flexible and secure. You do need to keep an eye out for firmware updates, they improve the performance and stability of the router. Most problems are due to lack of knowledge by the user, or isp problems. I would recommend this router for anyone who wants to build a mixture of cable/wireless home network, with security and extra functionality (vpn, firewall, etc.)
