Received it today. Connected with Asus RT-ac66u (merlin firmware). The connect is shown as 870 Mbps. In reality download is approx. 200 Mbps from NAS via wifi. Less than I expected, but enough for streaming raw Blue Ray 1080p via wifi. The theoretical maximum for A6200 is 480 Mbps (USB 2.0 speed as a bottle neck).

The 2.4 GHz range is full :( the channels intersect much.

The 5.0 GHz range is empty. So far I am the only one in the neighborhood!

This is faster than a fast thing from Veryfastland..! 802.11ac is awesome and seeing 1Gb traverse my WiFi is just wonderful. People don't realise the weak link is their laptop which may be limited to 802.11g or n, so WiFi speeds are limited compared to the speed of their gateway router. This bad boy kicks through that limit, and when connected to my 5Ghz WiFi router gives me unparalleled speeds!

This item does not support USB 3.0 so the usb connection would become a bottleneck to acheiving the advertised wireless speed.

As a result, this is a wasted purchase (you're paying for a bandwidth speed you cannot get), get something cheaper.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This dongle works well and provides a fast connection to a suitable router that supports the 802.11ac WiFi standard.

802.11ac is a successor to the 802.11n WiFi standard. This adaptor supports the new standard as well as the old ones, but to get the benefits, your router must also support 802.11ac. Faster connections to your router allow computers, phones and tablets connected to the router to communicate faster with each other, but of course does not improve the speed of the connection to the internet.

This dongle is definitely designed for desktop rather than laptop computers, as it is quite bulky. It comes with a stand, but can ve connected directly to a USB port. This may however block adjacent USB ports. To reduce this problem slightly, the USB connector does tilt. The black part contains its antennae and can be rotated to allow you to set their angle in alignment with your router's antennae for the best possible signal.

It was happy to use the automated WPS connector to make a secure connection to our TP-Link router.

Overall, I think it's a decent dongle, but be prepared to accept that it is quite large compared to other WiFi dongles.

Don't beleive the bad reviews i bought this direct from maplin yesterday after seeing the price offered at amazon and its greate ranging betwen 500mbs and 800mbs on 5ghz, full signal strength all the time, i bought this to replace a free advent wireless adapter that came with the PC and it has fixed the issue. I remmoned buying this i combination with the netgear ac1200 wireless modem router. Before I had to have a extension lead hanging out of one of my USB ports so i could get a signal from downstairs even with my new router i only got four bars but with this adapter i can have the adapter on my desk instead of hanging out of my computer down to the floor.

Having moved over to infinity broadband with BT I was getting a very respectable 68Mbps over a wired connection. However with my trusted faithful TP link 300MPs dongle I was getting around 30Mbps. I read about the benefits of going dual band so looked for a dongle, this was on amazon at a discount price new, but Amazon dealers were offering it (from Hong Kong) at even lower, so I bought one. Given it came from Hong Kong I did not expect to see it before Xmas, but it has taken less than 2 weeks brilliant.
It arrived well packed but no instructions as expected.
Connecting to pc , drivers were not found ( I have windows 64 ultimate)
Went to Netgear site, support page and downloaded driver no problem.
Ran speedtest.net result 49Mbps - Not bad
repeated the test with a different server - 65MBps Well what's a few Mbps with no wires running around.
If I get problems in the near future I will write back. But for now WoW. Amazon does it again.
