5.0 out of 5 stars Atmospheric graphic novel 16 Aug 2013
Format:Board book
Based on the detective novel by Leo Malet, the artist Tardi has filled another volume with his atmospheric 1950s drawings. It mostly takes place in the 12th arrondissement, where goods are shipped by train, where the fair comes to the Foire du Trone, and where private detective Nestor Burma barely survives an attempt on his life in the roller coaster - only to be beaten up by a gang of rockers later on. Missing gold, a quick snifter at the bar, Parisian back streets in the rain...
As usual, the story is complicated, the atmosphere convincing, and the illustrations brilliant. Another top French BD (bande dessinee) - recommended!
