I have used Nero 5 & Nero 6 with great success over the years, so when Nero 7 came along I was happy to part with my money. I have since learnt much to my cost that it was hard earned cash down the drain. Nero vision will crash 50% of the time as the About Nero vision splash screen fails to open the program. When you get it to open and try to convert known good AVI files to DVD format it will fail 30% of the time during the encoding process. When you have succeeeded after much effort the resultant file has serious Video/Sound Synch problems. The sound can lead the video by up to 5 minutes. Now when you come to shut down Nero Vision it will crash 100% of the time. I have been exchanging mails with Nero Support for the last six weeks. Various amended versions of Nero Vision have been tried and consistantly fail in the same way to more or less the the same degree. I have now reverted back to Nero 6. It may not have the same bells & Whistles, but at least it worked. My advice DO NOT buy this product Nero 7 is not fit for purpose

Mixed feelings 26 May 2007
At the most found this suite does what it says it will do. I use Nero Vision a lot and have found it reliable for encoding to Dvd without any hitches. Menu's are very easy to create but most of the cutting and editing I do in another program and then feed into Nero to burn to disc. Perhaps if all this was done within Nero the heavier use causes some of the hick ups other users of the video editing feature have found. I work with mainly footage captured from Digital TV and most audio/video sync problems are caused by frames dropped during broadcast. This can cause Nero to hick up during encoding to DVD. I normally use another program like video redo to correct problems with broadcast and dont get any problems once the corrected footage is fed into Nero. HAve encoded a few films from my video camera and that has worked fine. I wouldnt use NeroVision as the video editing program to end all video editing. Its part of a larger suite of things and intended as a simple means to an end.

So far, very few coasters when burning. Cheap blank DVD's are more the culprit.

It does have some annoying bugs-NeroVision: After creating chapters and adding simple fades to the start of a film and the end, the program just crashes and then sometimes works fine-not sure whats going on here. Cant find any answers from anyone here. Just another bug you have the pleasure to pay for and retifyable by parting with some more money for an update. Another issue was Nero Burning Rom causing an error message when selected and crashing. Usually a re-install would cure this for a while but then it would come back. Was told by support to update the program but thats not acceptable. Its like agreeing to buy a program with great promises but havin to spend more on getting a feature of it that was supposed to work, working. Anyway, found a registry patch that seems to correct this.

So what am I sayin. Yes it works at the most for me but has a few annoying things about it that tarnish a good program.

Major Problems 23 Feb 2007
By John K
Amazon Verified Purchase
I Purchased this product looking for the new "Add-Ins", I was advised by my local PC shop, that "it had some problems, so stick with the early versions". They are absolutely right. I use a new Dual Core PC with XP Media center, and could not get it to burn a DVD, and was even unable to check for updates or patches.(Message-It could not find my Broadband connection)

I did not install the SIPPs (Phone Software), and it uses around 533Mb space, so is very resource hungry. Trying to return!
