I have been an Evangelion fan for quite some time now, and I've been trying to catch with this series for some time. So, what do I have to say after reading the first fifteen books; it's okay.

STORY
The story is quite simple, as this a comedy of some sorts. It's nothing stellar that many Evangelion fans have come to expect at this point, but it is still entertaining to see what situation Shinji gets himself into. Considering that this is set in the alternate reality in episode 26 of the original Evangelion series, Neon Genesis Evangelion, some fans may find some minor differences to that reality. But none the less the setting is still a good one and works well with the basis of the series.

CHARACTERS
While a lot of the characters will be the more or less the same as we already know them there are some that might act differently; the biggest difference being how Gendo acts. In the anime he is a cold, heartless, farther, but in this series he is a loving farther that can sometimes be a bit too supportive of Shinji and is an outright idiot a lot of the time. This isn't a bad thing because the setting is different from the Evangelion anime, so it makes sense for characters to act a little different and it is enjoyable to read how the characters will act in a world that isn't surrounded by death.

ART
The art style used for this manga series isn't too far off the art style that some fans might be used to seeing. There are times when it is noticeable that the art is different than how some fans might prefer a character to look, but they are still recognisable as the characters we all know and love. Though there is one thing I'm a little disappointed with, and that is the amount of fan service.

Pretty girls, Pretty girls all around but Shinji Ikari can't decide! With both Asuka and Rei after his heart already, things are very complicated in Shinji's life. Enter Mana Kirishima smart, funny, hot and you've got a recipe for tons of action/humor guaranteed. What can the the two girls and Hikari do when this new student falls for Shinji's clumsy charms? Get positively hammered on alcohol carelessly left out by Misato during a party THAT'S WHAT! This already funny situation is made worse with Shinji and the lads on damage control, enough said!! However greater dangers then bad hangovers are on the horizon when the lab Asuka, Mana, Rei and Shinji are touring is sabotaged by SEELE! With things heading towards nuclear meltdown only one lone hero can save the situation, OVER TO YOU Gendo Ikari!!

Still Hilarious and Starting to turn into a Harem 9 April 2011

It's obvious that this series is shonen, but it gets even better when a new heroine shows up, that's right Mana has finally made her appearance and latches onto Shinji right off the bat! Asuka is full of jealousy now that she has a new rival and Rei is a bit concerned, too. Hikaru, Rei and Asuka all get drunk when Misato leaves her liquor at the house and poor Shinji, Toji and Kensuke get stuck with the sober duties of taking care of them as well as cleaning up after them. Shinji, Asuka, Rei and Mana all go on a trip to Old Tokyo with Yui to see a research lab and while they're all there, disaster strikes! And you won't believe who shows up to the rescue!
NGE Vol 6 22 May 2014

Well this series is moving right along, a lot of the same slip fall grab stuff still going on, a stark contrast to the original series (which I can accept considering). The art is great though, looks almost as good as the original Evangelion. This series is definitely making me fall in love with Rei all over again, and I really hope she ends up with Shinji in the end lol It's also nice to see her step out of her shell a bit because we never saw that side of her before, Asuka is exactly the same (wouldn't be Asuka without the attitude!). Kouwru plays less of a part in this one which makes me glad because he irritates me, and there is some hint of a plot starting to form (albeit slowly). Gotta have for NGE fans!!
