When Rhodri and Rhys report that there's a note on Mike the Milk's fridge reading 'Prince of Wales, MBE', Nelson and all the other animals assume that Mike's in line for a medal from the Queen! But when the nosy rats go missing from Pont-y-Cary Dairy early next morning, Nelson is concerned - they must have gone to London. Worried they'll get lost in the big city, Nelson and friends set off to rescue them! Getting to Buckingham Palace is an adventure in itself, but there are plenty more escapades to come. Nelson meets Prince Charles, finds himself on TV and has a make-over! But where are Rhodri and Rhys? And is Mike really in line for an MBE?
About the Author
Simon Weston OBE is a former British Army soldier who became well known after suffering severe injuries during the bombing of the Sir Galahad in the Falklands War. After recovering from his initial injuries, he has worked tirelessly for charity and is now a well-known personality on radio and TV, and much in demand as an after dinner speaker throughout the UK. David Fitzgerald is the voice of Saturday mornings on BBC Radio Devon. He started out in radio in the early 1980s, before moving to TV, where he was at the front of nearly every major disaster reporting for Sky News. He is also an experienced writer, having scripted TV favourites such as The Bill and Spitting Image.

I came across this book in my cousin's house and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, even as a 22 year old! Once I started, I just couldn't put it down.
"Nelson to the Rescue" is a lovely story about a horse called Nelson who goes to London with a bunch of his quirky animal friends. The gang from `St Mary Dairy in Pont-y-cary' (a name which is impossible to say without singing it) are on a mission to find their missing friends; Rhodri and Rhys, the nosy rats. They end up in Buckingham Palace and Nelson gets to meet Prince Charles!
It's full of fun and adventure and the jokes are never-ending. I found myself laughing out loud when I read about the rugby-playing ducklings called the `All-Quacks'. This is one of those books that everyone should read.
I haven't read the first book `A Nod from Nelson' but I will definitely be looking for an excuse to buy it. Maybe as a present to myself?
