Product Description
This fascinating collection of old photographs is a pictorial history of the Lancashire town of Nelson. Although this area has been occupied by farming communities since Domesday, the name of Nelson has only been used to describe this part of it for around 140 years, in fact, from the time it developed into a busy centre for cotton manufacturing. The book shows the streets and buildings and people at work and play through a period of over 100 years. It will bring back memories for those that can recall these times and be a revelation for newcomers and those from a younger generation. The author is an active member of the Nelson Local History Society and has drawn on a number of local sources for the photographs, including the Society's own collection and Nelson Library.
