This fascinating film documents the early, and in my opinion, best part of Neil Young's career. Starting out with his move to California where he founded Buffalo Springfield in 66, and going as far as 1975 taking in the classic solo albums After The Goldrush, Harvest and On The Beach.
The film features clips of many of Neil's classic songs from the period, including some live footage I hadn't seen elsewhere before. The people interviewed are very knowledgable and offer some great insight into Young's early career, such as studio cohort Bruce Tergersen, biographers John Einarson and Johnny Rogan, and veteran music critic Robert Christgau.
While not all of the information in here is necessarily brand new, any real fans of Neil and his music can't fail to find this film an enjoyable watch.
