When it comes to getting close to the rich and famous Laura Jackson is second to none. (SKY TV )

Laura Jackson is the queen of biographers. (DAILY EXPRESS )

Product Description

Neil Diamond has been responsible for writing some of the most memorable songs in pop music history and he has sold in excess of 120 million albums and has continued to reign as one of the Top 5 most successful solo artists in pop music. After years of anonymity in Tin Pan Alley churning out hits for other artistes, Neil Diamond burst onto the scene in his own right in 1969 with 'Sweet Caroline.' However, superstardom has come at a personal cost - he is a star who has suffered periods of crippling self doubt. He is an intriguing blend of contradictions - a massively charismatic dazzling live performer, yet deeply introspective off stage. In this fascinating portrait, his life, his music and his passions are explored from his childhood struggle to get out of Brooklyn, through five decades of global stardom, to the present day. NEIL DIAMOND: THE BIOGRAPHY provides a definitive insight into one of the most enduring, creative, and prolific singer-songwriters of his generation, exploring the complex man behind the glittering legend.

Disapppointing! 26 Feb 2009
Format:Paperback
I was disappointed by the small amount of input from Diamond, or indeed anyone close to him.

The book concentrated mainly on a history of chart positions of his records, rather than an interesting reflection of his life, with the possible exception of the early years.

A Great Story, but..... 14 July 2011
By John T. Ciappetta - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have read and enjoyed this biography about the 'Great' Neil Diamond, who remains the most underrated singer/songwriters of all time! All one has to do is objectively look at what he has accomplished during his long career, and how he continues to "Wow" all who attend his concerts all over the world! Laura Jackson has captured much of this in her fine biography. I wish however, that she had more photos. Photos of Neil growing up, his brother, mom, dad, children, etc. would have added so much to the story. Ms. Jackson did make one big error. She said that Neil Diamond supported George McGovern's presidential campaign in 1972 and that McGovern narrowly lost to Nixon. She could not have been more wrong. Richard Nixon won 49 of 50 states and won the election in the most lopsided presidential election ever!
