Another volume of 24 selected episodes from the hit Aussie soap Neighbours.
There are three discs of eight episodes, each disc has a theme. The first disc is the Ramsey Street fires disc. Apart from the Scully house fire, I found most of these episodes quite boring (A Fire behind Lassiters and the fire in Lassiters!). I think they were from periods when the show was in a dull patch with dull characters (1992/93 and 2004).
The second disc is much more for the older viewer, like me as it is dedicated to Charlene and Scott including their first meeting, their night together, their porposal and their wedding (yes if you purchased the Defining Moments DVD the classic wedding episode is also on this disc too!). There is also the Scott, Paul and Mike car crash when they avoided colliding with baby Sam's pram and the finale of 1986 involving Clive's dream when he's knocked out in a boxing match with Mike.
The third disc is fan favourite episodes. I am not sure which fans they spoke too but none of them would make my top 8 episodes! - these include the death of Lou's wife Cheryl, the death of Julie Martin at the Murder Mystery Party, Harold's return and Charlene's departure.
All in all its worth watching for nostalgia reasons but I do hope if they do a volume 3 they can despence with the 'theme' idea and just give us 24 classic episodes instead.

I'm so pleased to revisit the various episodes of Neighbours in this collection although the more recent ones mean nothing to me because I was an avid viewer only until the early 1990s and could only dip in after that. For me it's really good to see the late 80s ones again and it takes me back to a simpler time not just in my life but from the look of it, a simpler time on tv.
I just wish they would dedicate a dvd release to a certain era rather than themes, for example why not have a set for the late 80s, the early 90s, mid 90s, late 90s and so on. That way anyone buying a disc can wallow in a timescale they remember, and the episodes might be close enough to each other to offer some kind of story arc. If I could buy every episode featuring the not-so-plain Jane Harris I'd be in a kind of retro 80s Antipodean heaven.
Maybe one day the company which produced Neighbours could put them up on the internet and we could just download any episode, like you can with tv series' on i-Tunes?

Great stuff
It was great watching some of the old episodes of Neighbours after all these years, still haven't finished watching this vol as yet, but, i'm sure, it will be great

Pressie for my mother in law big fan of neighbours. 3disks, 9hrs of viewing time!!! A good giggle watching all those old episodes/characters you forgot about!
