To keep the review short and sweet; this steelbook is a fancy and more expensive version of the My Neighbour Totoro (Blu-ray + DVD) edition.

There are no extras when it comes to content on the disks and it unfortunately has no artwork cards or special things inside (except for some artwork printed in the cases background).

What I can say is, this has been very nicely presented with a clean looking design by having simple & minimal artwork on both the front and back of the case (with a removable sleeve on the back which states all the disks features).

On the side where you'll find the film title, there is a nice coloured strip which is different for each film in the collection which makes them look nice together side by side on a shelf.

Personally, I would have really liked to see something "extra" included in these special edition steelbooks, be it a soundtrack or artwork, really anything extra would have been nice, especially with its current price tag of 22 (at the time of review).

At the moment there are only four films available (with this one included): Nausicaa, Howl's Castle & Ponyo, which I must say all look fantastic.

That said, I'm still debating in my mind... was it worth it? The collector inside of me says yes, but my wallet says otherwise, especially after purchasing all four special edition Ghibli films...

If you're really willing to commit, then just be ready to shell out a lot of money as they come out; or if you have a favourite Ghibli film, then I would at least recommend purchasing that one in particular.

Fantastic for Totoro and Studio Ghibli fans :) You get your favorite Ghibli movie in both DVD and vibrant HD Blu-ray too ^^ It is worth buying for the gorgeous steel book case you get them in with Totoro on the front and cat bus on the reverse side. Lovely for a present and for Ghibli collectors :)

4.0 out of 5 stars return?? 28 Dec 2013

Although the case is stunning (agree with the other reviews) i was disappointed when this did not come in plastic wrapping like the other 3 that i purchased and also had light scratching on the case, I'm guessing amazon has sent me a second despite it saying its new.

3.0 out of 5 stars very metallic look 27 Nov 2013

Only a simple statement: The look of the steelbook is very metallic and so the pictures are not so brilliant as shown in the item description on amazon (here the fore- and background seems to be white and so the pictures are very colorful).
I have all 4 steelbooks, so i'm a little disappointed.
