Book Description

1 Jan 2006 Good Practice Guide
The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 has changed the shape and complexity of the planning system in England and Wales significantly, in an effort to make it faster, fairer and more predictable. This guide summarises the key changes, some of which remain to be clarified and brought into effect, and gives practical, straightforward and up-to-date advice on dealing with the transformed system. The guide: outlines the new regime of regional spatial strategies and local development documents and plans, and explains how you can grow your role in the plan-making process; explains the recent changes to the development control system and how best to prepare planning applications and negotiate permissions; and sets out valuable sources of further information, including useful web links, an index of current planning policy guidance and statements, and a list of planning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best planning law book for the non specialist 17 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback
There are a number of planning law books on the market. Almost all of them are written by lawyers and unsurprisingly they are of greatest use to lawyers. Here l have to declare an interest. I was taught planning law by a very distinguished professor of planning law but l did not understand it until l had to do the job myself (dealing with planning applications) and later when l had to teach it to others. I have been teaching people in an academic, professional and community context for nearly twenty years and this is the only book which l would refer most people to, unless as stated, they are a lawyer and require greater depth. This is simply written, clearly laid out, comprehensive and up to date. It is useful for members of all the landed professions, community groups, business people and members of the public who need to understand the system. I would also recommend it for planning students so they do not become confused as l was. highly recommended.
