`Negima!? Neo' is the manga loosely based on the second `Negima!' anime series and while it is still good, it is nowhere near as good as the original manga. The series follows the basic plot of the anime with ten year old wizard Negi Springfield getting a job teaching a class of fifteen year old girls in Japan but it also has its own style and goes its own way with the plot. This first volume of the series covers Negi's first steps as a teacher and his attempts to get `problem' student Eva to go to class.

While still entertaining `Negima!? Neo' is somewhat more immature than the original manga with a somewhat cartoonier artwork although there are still some flashes of the brilliance of the original manga here and there. This translation of the series is somewhat lacking in places with a couple of errors (such as using bare instead of bear) but it is not as bad as to be unreadable. Overall though this is still an interesting series and while it isn't as good as the original manga series, anyone who enjoyed the second `Negima!' anime should also enjoy this series.

A great new Negima that you can't help but love. 1 Sept. 2009
By Marie Bentley - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
When I first saw that there was a new Negima! manga series, I was kinda suspicious of the content. But right when I started reading this manga all of my fears were banished! It starts out at Negi's magic school, and quickly goes right into the storyline. It has elements from both the original anime, original manga, and the new anime. It has all the things the anime had, and all the things it didn't. While having all the things that were great in the manga. It was a refreshing breeze of new idea's and happenings, with an entirely different new art concept, that makes things you recognize seem new. It's more serious then Negima!? More Fantasy then Mahou Sensei Negima, and less fanservicey then Mahou Sensei Negima Manga.

All in all I think that this is a perfect item for the true Negima Fans. I mean with something this good, you just can't get enough of it. Regardless of all the versions out there, this series continues to inspire and uplift me.

negima neo 30 Mar. 2009

Format: Paperback
A mediocre spinoff of the hugely successful Negima: magister negi magi series. Since it's not even Ken doing the art, the art isn't too great. While the story seems to parallel the original, it's done in an uninteresting method. While it does follow the Evangeline arc close enough and does it much faster (it finishes in 2 volumes versus 3 in the original series), it is done poorly. It apparently is based off the second anime series for this series. However, true fans know that there is only ONE true Negima anime: Ala Alab OAD's.

Avoid this series and pick up Magister negi magi the manga instead.
