5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic product 19 July 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I was slightly apprehensive about buying this due to the mixed opinions on the net. I need not have worried. It arrived quickly was well packed and was soon on my camera. The finish is excellent, matching the 'speckled' black finish of the main body, the buttons and controls feel the same as the controls on the camera itself. Only the rubber grip pad is a slightly different texture but this really is nit picking. It fits well, with no wobbles and even has a neat little press fit compartment to store the camera connector rubber cover whilst the grip is attached. It comes with two battery holders (standard Lithium & AA) and a comprehensive manual.

It feels great on the camera, giving extra stability and making the D7000 feel complete in the hand as my little finger now has somewhere to rest - the extra 'feel' it gives is worth £45 on its own.

As mentioned in other reviews this is a Meike item and the Command and Sub dials do operate in the opposite direction. This doesn't really bother me and you get used to it within a few minutes of shooting.

I'm sure the Nikon grip is heavier and even better built (with its magnesium shell) but unless you really want the name then this is an absolute steal. I'd rather buy this and spend the money saved on a few filters. Don't be put off by the low price, this does not feel like a cheap product and really is fantastic value.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT 8 Jun 2011
Whatever you do... DO NOT buy the genuine Nikon battery grip at £200+. This grip is absolutely identical in every way, the build quality is excellent an it is less than a quater of the price of the Nikon one! GREAT PRODUCT... GREAT PRICE!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bargain time for D7000 owners! 28 Jun 2011
Have no worries about this item - it really delivers the goods at a fraction of the price of Nikon's own grip. It feels good in the hand, matches well with the camera, looks right, is lightweight but strong, locks onto the camera without wobbles - what more do you want? The joystick control is very ergonomic in use and battery changing becomes a breeze [and only an occasional one at that]. Any downside? Well - the non-slip rubber coating on the grip has a slightly noticeable chemical smell! Big deal - so what? Just get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars non-Nikon d7000 battery grip 11 Aug 2011
By Ollie
For 1/5 the cost of the Nikon grip I am very impressed. If it had a nikon sticker on its bottom i would believe that it was made by Nikon the build quality is that good. I was impressed by how little weight the grip added to the d7000. Although with 2 batteries installed you could probably shoot over 3000 photos on the D7000 it is nice to have the AA cell holder included for extra backup. would definitely recommend the grip as it make the camera far more comfortable to hold, especially if you have larger hands.

5.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for, or do you. 18 July 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
Having spent almost 18 months deciding on pushing the "purchase" button for the D7000 I wanted to get as many add ons as I could afford. I read many reports about the camera and although all said it was "A1" many did say the body was smaller and sometimes you found it difficult to get to all of the buttons and switches.
I could not afford the genuine Nikon battery grip so trusting my previous reviewers I bought this item praying it would not damage the camera or cause any problems. It arrived on time, was well packed and came with an instruction book that not only had good english it actually made sense. I followed the application instructions and it fitted like a glove. The unit came with two internal holders, one for 6 AA batteries as well and the other, the EN EL 15 Nikon battery. I have tried both types of battery and the grip works brilliantly for both. The camera read where the battery was and indicated the power settings accurately.
The plastic locking switch on the side could break if you were slightly rough with it however if carefull I can not envisage any major problems.
What really appeals to me is that the battery grip allows you to balance the camera in the palm of your hand allowing free access to all controls. It has rubber on the important contact areas giving you a feeling of safe control and it also (I think) gives you a buffer from the bottom of the camera should it come into contact with anything that could damage the main body.
I have fitted my tripod base plate and it has a solid hold and is not for moving.I cannot believe how well this item works and for such little money in a world where everything seems to be so expensive.
I am delighted with my purchase and if it breaks or stops working I will not hesitate to buy another.

5.0 out of 5 stars NiCON - Unbelievable value 18 Aug 2011
By venomco
Very impressed, arrived promptly as well which was nice.

The grip has a quality feel to it, balances with the camera well, attaches with absolutely no play - and I'm tempted to say it feels like a true OEM product.

Another nice touch is the 'egg shell' paint job on the plastics to mimic Nikon's own finish. Why pay hundreds when you can have all the functionality for a fraction of the cost? No, really, why? Buy this now!
