Product Description

Use for photography with infrared films. Infrared film is also sensitive to ultraviolet rays and the shorter wavelengths of the visible spectrum so it is necessary to filter out all but the infrared rays. IR720 passes only infrared rays above 720nm.
Infrared filters, often used in crime detection, medical photography, detection of distribution of vegetation, etc, can also be used for creative and artistic photography!

Specifications: - Infrared Filter
- Material: high quality optical glass
- Size: 52mm

5.0 out of 5 stars Irresistible 29 May 2012

I've used this filter with Ilford's SFX range and now with Efke 820 and can highly recommend it.

I have only just started playing with IR films (and a hatchet job on the IR filter of a digital P&S sensor) but haven't yet tried any of the more expensive IR filters and, to be honest, I don't think I'll bother because this guy is giving me the results I was looking for.

I will say this though, it works far better with Efke 820 than with the Ilford SFX but as far as I understand Ilford's SFX film isn't 'true' IR film (just red sensitive) but it could've been my developer as it was near end-of-life. Saying that they still looked very interesting and IR-like.

On a super-bright out of character Scottish morning I managed to get beautiful glowing trees with a black sky by shooting the Efke film at 3ASA around f22 for 1.5 seconds with this filter on my Crown Graphic (actually held in place).

I've been recommending it to anyone who'll listen or are interested in IR on a budget because 5 is an excellent price for excellent results.

Works well with my Sony a37. I have taken some really nice IR pictures using this filter. Long exposures and custom white balance area must of course until I get a full spectrum slr.
